Heart of England In Bloom Judge's Comments 2003
The judges received a warm welcome to Ross on Wye for the Heart of England in Bloom Competition. The judges were delighted with the view from the Royal Hotel grounds, which enabled them to see the town within its picturesque setting of the River Wye. The main floral colour theme of the town was pink and white and was most attractive. The raised flowerbeds outside the John Kyrle School have a real ’wow’ to them. The hotels and guest-houses around the town support the ‘In Bloom’ competition well and we commend them. It is good to see the community involvement and the judges were impressed with the Housing Association flats under Mrs Cowmeadows enthusiasm and leadership, which saw their entry into the Best Street Competition. The judges were very taken with the ‘Ross in Bloom’ welcome sign – well done. The Heritage Centre exhibition was very good and the artwork was of a high standard, and the judges were pleased to see the Charity Stalls which help to create a very lively feel in the centre of the town. The residential gardens around the town helped with your entry and the judges were very taken with the trio of houses in Church Close. The Gardens of Remembrance and Prospect Garden were a delight to view and the judges admired the well-planted carpet bed. Ross has achieved a good Silver gilt award and the judges feel
sure you will be able to improve on this – well done. |
